  1. The estuary is a dangerous spot. The water from the Neyyar River will flow heavily to the Arabian Sea, and going near the estuary may cause accidents.

  2. The sand formation on the beach is sometimes in the shape of a cliff, which is very dangerous to visit the beach during that time.

  3. Generally, during heavy rains and windy times, going near the estuary and boating in the main river can be very dangerous.

  4. Avoid late-night outings. Poovar is not a place for nightlife.

  5. Eat from good restaurants only. Check reviews before going to any restaurant.

It’s important to note that these potential dangers do not mean that Poovar is an unsafe destination overall. By being aware of these risks and taking necessary precautions, tourists can still have a safe and enjoyable trip to Poovar.

Great tour at sunset, at a fair price of 1200 rupees. We were coming back from a day tour to Kanyakumari and decided to stop by poovar to do the backwater boating. I contacted Gaviya on WhatsApp and booked for that evening. I was a bit surprised that they sent me super precise location and pictures of their house, but I understood later why.I didn't tell my driver I had booked, so initially he took me to his "recommendation", which was 2500 rupees for only 1 hour tour. The people there were hawkers and tried really hard to convince us to go with them, even lying that companies who book online cannot go everywhere.I insisted and got to Kingfisher club (operated by Gaviya), where mister Robert gave us the boat. I had to use the pictures I got on WhatsApp to make sure I was at the right place. We were lucky to have a silent boat, which our driver, Lula, was skillful in maneuvering. He got us really close to birds, and he had good eyes, showing us ones that we didn't notice. We were often stopped at birds that he observed, while other boats were just speeding past us. And as you can see from the pictures, we saw all parts, not just the beach like the lier before was claiming. So I'm really glad we got to the real club, a good price, a silent boat and a skillful driver.

We took this trip on Saturday.Enquired about the trip same day morning, got all the adequate response on time. Reached by 12, had a boat ready. It was clean, maintained and the driver was polite. Ride was fun, halted for lunch on the way which was delicious and not heavy on the pocket. Overall the experience was good and prove charged was nominal. Would go for this again and recommend the same who's interested for some good times in poovar.

Good ride at affordable prices1200 for 1.5 hours and 1500 for2 hours. While boating we can have tea and snacks in the floating hotels. we can spend 20 minutes on the beach. There we can have camel rides and horse rides at cheap prices. We have to bargain to get the price lower below 200 for 2 person ride. Azhimala is another beautiful location 10km away from Poovar.one should visit that place if you are coming to Poovar.Plan the trip accordingly so you could reach aazhimala by 6pm

If you are looking for a boat ride on Poovar Backwater, I would highly recommend Gaviya Tours. It was a great experience for me. It's pocket friendly (if going in a groups), the skipper of the boat was very polite and did decent guiding throughout the ride. I would recommend to take the Sunset ride. Last thing, pre book (half the amount) your ride to save the hassle of getting overpriced on spot rides.

We were in a group of 6 in one boat and we paid about INR-300 , for tow hour tour. The backwater cruise was simply spectacular and worth every rupee paid. Its scenic beauty in its natural unpolluted form was mesmerising. We were lucky to spot the golden eagle, cormorant, Kingfisher and some other migratory birds. Some of the scenic spots included the Elephant Rock, Mangrove forest, Divine Place, canal area, the floating restaurants and the golden sand beach lapping the Arabian Sea. I would strongly recommend this tour as missing it is a sin. You will surly love it i m uploading some picture for you
